In England today, it is our local elections, elections that determine the makeup of our loccal governement, can seriously effect local taxes and the local environment and economy.

So why am I so alienated from this process?  In the area Iive there have been complaints about housing development, the leisure services, education is in a mess, the councils green credentials are limited, oh and guess what the same party has been elected here for at least 20 years.  So even though they can’t or wont get it done in the way local populations want they still get elected.

All in all people do not vote on local issues, they vote on national issues and do not care, are not aware, or percieve as immaterial all local issues.

So why should I or for that matter anyone vote, to answer that…. to be honest mostly out of habit.
