Not all who wander are lost (J.R.R. Tolkein)
I can’t even remember which of his characters says this, but Tolkeins love for myth and philosophy has left us with some fantastic stories where we often miss the subtler depths of the message. Certainly the recent films though beautifully shot in New Zealand substituted Action Adventure for Myth and Mystery.

“The Hobbit: Graphic Novel” (J.R.R. Tolkien)
But I began to think about what this saying meant or at least meant to me after talking to someone who was looking to be enthused and motivated.
We seem to be of the opinion these days or at least under the influence of an opinion that we should all fit in some form of pre defined order. Those that don’t fit are lost to society, or to themselves.
So much of our society seems to lack soul or spirit seems hell bent on forcing people to conform, we feel this most when we are young, unformed by conscious of our new adult role in society and it is then most often that we rebel. Interesting now that so much is allowed there becomes less and less to rebel or push against. perhaps the ability to truly rebel has been lost…ooops I was forgetting conversion to Islam, the last great rebellion for western youth.
Anyway don’t be afraid to take a wander or get lost
