Buying a House

So I finally met someone who I would like to live with, even if like me they are exasperating. But buying a house with an independent woman is no easy matter, two houses into one sometimes just doesn’t go. I know I can be Mr Know it all but over the past 15 years I have bought and sold 5 houses and moved six times, which is far to much for anyone and I would like to settle down…but what it does give me is experience.
With estate agents, solicitors and buyers and sellers, and in my opinion none of it is easy and the best thing is to keep things as simple as possible.

Two individuals coming together is difficult enough but the consensus ad idum needed is even more difficult and this is where things can often fall down, because as individuals we are used to getting our own way and going our own way. Being together in a project prohibits that because you need to work as a team. Someone has to give a little and where homes and money are concerned this is very difficult.

Next you have to battle with buyers who waver, estate agents who are at war with each other and all on commission and are not always as honest and straightforward as you’d like, hey is it any wonder its a stressful thing to do.

And don’t solicitors charge the earth, I have had quotes of near £900 per house for conveyancing but if you took my advice and joined a trade union you will find the excellent trade union solicitors Thompsons do a great conveyancing deal amongst other work to support working people.
