Well it all started from me posting over at Alfies Blog (http://www.alfredtheok.blogspot.com/ ) in a rather insensitive and probably self righteous way, about herceptin but I hate the daily mail and thats that…I am sorry about your Dad, Alfie my Dad died from a heart attack heart problems no doctor had ever bothered to spot and had a massive heart attack after he had been in ITU (intensive Care), he started to recover for a bit so they wanted him out coz they needed the bed, so he was declared OK, died the next day on a ward. Like yours he worked all his life, fought in the war and so on.

My present partner works in cardiology funnily enough and I have learnt alot through her, even about herceptin, alot of the costs of these drugs are hidden, and to avoid the litigation we now seem so obsessed with and because of herceptin heart related problems, everyone wwho would be presecribed it would have to be seen by the heart clinic (where she works this is the case) except they have so many patients already, how do they make time or find the staff to see the herceptin patients.

I think the truth is health care has become so complicated and over managed that our expectations cannot keep up and vice versa.

You see on the other hand my daughter who has Prader-willi Syndrome gets the most incredible care and regular expensive hormone treatment for nothing and it has done wonders for her.

There is no NHS, there are a series of Local health servces, each making local decisions based more often than not on local budget issues, but also on other issues like demographics for example sussex where I live has a higher proportion of people over 60 as a percentage of population than anywhere else in the country.

Perhaps they shouldn’t have to make these decisions, but the pharmaceutical companies and the technology companies make millions from their products because they see the NHS as a cash cow, more money than ever pumped into the NHS and it seems that David Cameron is right, I have heard more than one health worker talk about the 4 (four) extra layers of management it seems to now take to run a hospital.

I work in computers, someone once said to me that as far as they were concerned they just wanted it to work (their computer) and if it didn’t they wanted someone there to help them and make it work there and then.

I think its what we want from our health service, but the world has moved on…because in the me me me society everyone is a target, everyone can be sold to, everything has got to pay up. So the consulting companies the middle managers and the media have moved in and the money is creamed off. Yes the billions Labour have spent has gone to the good, payrises for nurses and new hospitals and so on, but all that should have been done year on year in the last 20 years, but we took tax cuts instead except I didn’t I was unemployed.

Our parents, ourselves and our children, looked the other way for a moment and the world moved on, we were told no such thing as society and we didn’t protest enough, we allowed our trade unions to resist democracy until it was forced on them in a draconian way, and as they were gelded so were we, we allowed the selling of utilities already paid for in our sweat and our money, from oil, to telephony, we allowed the destruction and the ridicule of social support, we allowed the creation of enormous unemployment and an underclass and now all of a sudden I am going to believe that THE DAILY MAIL is a guardian of our society, [ because they most of crowed loudest for all that destruction, and sell off and against Unions who wanted to maintain the NHS and more] or that pharmaceutical companies have my best interests at heart, the same ones that say its essential that an untested inoculation against birdflu, [that even if it works now, would be useless (because of mutation) in 6 months to a year,] must be given to everyone.

Its social and its political, its about money and its about poverty, its about society, the individual and the corporate and more or much much less, because all the easy answers got taken away so that big brother is more important than the big issues.
