Messenger systems: iChat, aol instant messenger (AIM) communication and the internet

The internet is the great information and communication tool of our time, it cuts through barriers of class and race, of ethnicity and country, but, like all things that may bring people together or keep them informed, we are being taught to be afraid of it. We are taught the net is fulll of nasty hackers and pornographers waiting to corrupt your morals or at the very least your web-site, to add SPAM to your mail box, to entice your children into abusive and illegal relationships, to steal your credit card details and take the contents of your bank account, well they are welcome to my overdraft!

There are many systems of communication on the net and one of the most popular is the Instant Messenger system, Many use microsoft’s instant messenger, mainly because for years it has come already installed in their windows set up, but I understand the most popular (mainly because of its use in the USA) is AOL instant messenger also known as AIM .

This messenger system is now open to all users of Mac OS X with the inclusion of iChat AV in the Applications folder. ..

So what does this have to do with anything, well iChat has all the design and ease of use qualities you come to expect of Apple and more, buy the incredible iSight camera and you are video conferencing…

well it is an amazing way to communicate, its quite scary talking to strangers on the other side of the world, and yes you have to watch for the wierdos, BUT, most people are great, there are sites to help you link up with people like chatfinder , that helps people link up on the ichat aol network.

Its an easy way to communicate, and as someone said more jaw jaw less war war….it is certainly my hope.
