How do we deal with fear?
I remember as a boy seeing a “play for today” on the BBC, about the life of Jesus, it was very radical for its day, Jesus was played by a burly actor from the North of England (I don’t remember his name), the scenes were acted out in a an earthy way and the intensity of this Jesus was summed up as he grasped different characters hands and repeated a phrase…something along the lines of…What are you afraid of…there is nothing to be afraid of!
This was said with such depth and intensity it has always reverberated in me. There are those that say that Jesus real ministry was to bring this very message, that there is nothing to be afraid of, nothing to fear…as they say If God is with us who can be against us.
True spirituality also brings us this message, that we have nothing to be afraid of, we have everything to gain and nothing to lose
