What is important in your life
So I was told this little story about a friend who went into starbucks in Fulham for a coffee, the woman next to him pushing him to move along, edging into his space, and then having bought his coffee, she moves to the front of the queue.
In a loud American voice, and pointing at two of the people employed there she claims last time these two people ruined her coffee and getting more irate by the minutye, wants her coffee made by the manager.
Now in a world where genocide is still occuring in Africa, of corrupt political systems, war profiteering, the mistreatment of people because of their sex, gender, race or ethnic background. Where some gorge themelves whilst others starve or dig in the rubbish heaps of cities for a living, where species are wiped out everyday, where more money is spent on arms than child poverty, where the most valuable metal in the world is found in the poorest country, where drink, drugs, crime are a problem in every major city in the world, there are better things to get angry about than a cup of coffee
For all the Michael Moore Books and films, the protest marches and banners, we have all to a great extent become depoliticised, disempowered, disenfranchised and disgusted, but the world is out of control, this is perhaps what we have come to, that the only thing we can really effect, can really have some say in, support direct and control….is the way our coffee is made in a shop!
