It doesn’t work

I have worked in a number of places and I have only ever heard tales of companies that are…

efficient, well run, professional and pay their bills on time. These are London city firms who often act as examples to the rest of us. I have worked in the arts, for financial companies, City Guilds, publishing companies, family businesses, small business and large business. and my feeling is becoming on the one hand conservative and the other marxist, because if all business is like this, our way of life totters on a knife edge every day.

Which makes me think more about the way banks work, how they both create and take money, how credit works and why, what leaves one half of the world in poverty while we are all getting fatter here in the G8 based group of countries.

Everyday businesses totter, they can’t pay bills but manage more credit, and they run themselves inefficently. so if you think the privatisation of public services is good, forget it as these private firms can’t really run themselves, never mind services we rely on, just look at the mess of the UK rail services.

Worse still though is the health and welfare system in the UK, it stinks, of peopel in jobs difficult to get rid of, who lack imagination and skills, oh but of course, their heart is in the right place. The money wasted, the endless committees, the junkets, and all the while people still starve here in the Uk as they do in the USA, racism is rife and there is the idea that money can buy you anything, especially a slice of the american dream.

The most powerful nation in the world, can’t even run its army properly, from Vietnam to Iraq its a littany of miscalculations and mess-ups. Whats it all for then, I think you know the answer…money, not the kind of money you think of but the kind Bill gates thinks of, 1000 times over. Paul Theroux mentions in his book Dr slaughter, that there are really only 10,000 people in the whole world that matter and two of them live in China, isn’t it time we changed all that.
