Well I am back from a very restful holiday, with quite a lot of mosquito bites, my back aches and I have Achilles tendon problems…eek I must be getting old.

However as i was saying to an acquaintance in the sauna last night, its important to give thanks for what we do have, I live such a privileged life compared to many, there are too many of us waking up in the morning, with a groan and an “Oh God”. Watching the scenes of destruction in both Pakistan and New Orleans recently, i was struck by all those who thanked God for their survival, and the crys of Allah Akbar when someone was brought from the rubble.

I give thanks to God for allowing me to lie on a deserted beach in ithaki with incredible views, for walks through beautiful countryside and evenings with a cold beer by the harbour, for filling my stomach with good food, for giving me a job a house and money.

So I have installed coco-Aspell a Unix spell checker (no Microsoft Windows rubbish for me…there’s a rant coming on…I still can’t believe that people buy and use Windows when it s not very good never mind the security and virus issues…get Mac OSX or Linux and be done with it) and hope that will help with my spelling teacher.

after all that thanks why can’t i shake this grumpy feeling…perhaps i am just turning into a grumpy old man!?
