Have we have been educated to beleive basic human rights, and things that care for the body and soul are “ludicrously idealistic” and we should not expect them to be forthcoming?
Another problem, beside this poverty of aspiration is that for most of us on here (the internet and looking at his site) are probably from a particular socio-economic group and a particular part of the world and life is comfortable enough (more or less) materially to appear to give us more to lose than to win if we struggle to upset the applecart.
So we put up with this, because we have also been encouraged to be frightened of each other, to keep us at home and stop us creating real community and relationships.
And what do we get?… Political leaders to blame, instead of taking responsibility for ourselves, religious and spiritual leaders who appear to consistently let us down, instead of encouraging us to, again, be responsible and empowered in our own spirituality.
Hmmm… of course you may not recognise yourself in all that “we” whose attitudes I describe.
May be your life is one long stream of ongoing learning /questioning / questing: seeking ever-deeper connectedness with others, with Nature and with the Divine (immanent besides transcendent, however conceived). You seek out kindred spirits to share your inner life more openly & honestly, held in mutual support & inspiration. Along with the sheer joy of creativity! Claiming & exercising your freedom to think, feel & BE more authentic. And you leave everyone else to stew in their own juice
Perhaps you are off now to and walk under the lovely autumn trees & wistful skies, and immerse myself in mellow autumn beauty. Enjoy it while you can.
But as the Black eye peas put it in their song, you still have to ask the question…Where did the love go??
