The Seeds of Violence

Joy Makes War Impossible

Roberto Assagioli said that “Joy makes war impossible!”, I have often meditated on this and was struck that Blair Bush and Bin Laden, all look like they could do with a little Joy. Its strange perhaps that when Bush was full of the enJOYment of booze and life he couldn’t even be bothered to turn up for National Guard Duty, but once he got religion he lost his JOY and look at us now…

Perhaps Religion has a lot to answer for, so much of it lacks joy, of course this may have its foundation in its opposition to the nature and pagan religions it superseded and took power from, where from what I understand JOY was more apparent. I feel alot of Judeao based religion…Islam Judaism, Christianity, connects to heavily with the shadow and often a construct that stresses external rather than internal discipline. Setting out rules and regulations to live by, means exclusion, and in that exclusion not only peole, bu t emotions, thoughts and physical expression can all be proscribed.

Bin Laden never really looks a bundle of Joy, but people who take themselves seriously never are, and I am sure Blair once had long hair, wanted to be in a rock band and was a member of CND, how being born again can change you.

I was always fascinated by spme sections of the Quaker Movement in the USA who found that by proclaiming their adherence to liberal thought, Christian Love, Peace and Equality found their Meeting Houses thronged with people who found it impossible to go to the regular churches where you were “Damned” if you did not adhere to the rules, and some of those rules were to admonish others who did not believe like you (where admonish can be escalated to violent attack).

Check you heart for the seeds of Violence and for the seeds of Joy, whilst people enjoy life and have plenty and are fullfilled they have no need for violence, so what is it that brings them to a place where they lack a joy in life and need to kill and destroy.
