A sense of self, accept your self
babies come into this world on trust…
not on hope but on a core of faith that is central to their existence, they don’t intellectualise, discuss or ponder this faith, its natural to them, when a child is hungry s/he is fed, when cold is made warm, when s/he trys to walk they are held. its why one of the greatest abominations we see in the world today is when this trust is betrayed or abused.
Perhaps this kind of child like belief is what is meant in the story of Jesus saying we should become like little children.
As we get older, we, or at least i know that i, have put my trust in the more mundane and struggled with and questioned my faith that the Universe will provide. It is easier to believe that people will stop at a red light or a shop will open according to the time on its door, or an object or thing or person will give happiness.
Why is it we can have faith in traffic lights but not that the universe will support and provide for us, in the jesus story he also says something aling the lines of you can only come to God throu me; I had always understood this on the level of coming to God through Jesus but like all stories of the spirit, it has many levels. It also seems to me that God the Universal energy can only be reached through the me that is you, if you do not have a sense of who ME is then you cannot have a sense of You, from the person next to you to the the Universal energy. You can only come to an understanding of God through that still quiet place where you come to an understanding of yourself.
And what is it that stands in the way of this…? well lets look at another of my paraphrased bible misquotes…Judge not less you be judged…Judgment stands between us an understanding of ourself and an understanding of the Spirit. Once we start to make judgments or criticisms of others they in turn lead back to the most damning and destructive judgment of all…self judgment or self-criticism.
So how well or easily do you accept others, how easily can you accept yourself
