Berlusconism
you know what I am talking about, the obsession with what you are wearing, who you are seen with, where celebrity and stardom means more than courtesy and respect. Labels and designers mean more than good tailoring, Tv and cimenatic heroes and heroines become replacements for real achievment in our lives and our societies.
and the ultimate side of this is when politics the driving thought and decision making process of our socities (in both its overt and covert forms) is taken over Film stars become politicians, Medial Moguls, prime ministers and more people vote for Pop-Idol, or whatever it is called in your country than they do in local elections.
What does it mean for our relationships this lack of fabric in our society, the society of the selfish. It means more and more of us, at least in the western world where the media hits hard are on our own, or want to be on our own and when we are on our own, we want to be with someone else, but its too hard to compromise.
We lack a faith in ourselves and see that lack of faith reflected in others, we lack real inner confidence, inner peace and inner joy, so we buy, but we no longer know what to buy, so we buy magazines or advisors to tell us, or we buy what the media celebs buy and then even yoga and therapy and healing become products that are the latest fad or jerry or Opera or Claudia or Tom.
