was life meant to be this tedious? (day in…day out)
the same things day in day out, ok I know most of the time I talk about being constructive and positive, but tedium has its place too, but surely not day in day out…..mind you I do find Maralyn Manson vaguely amusing, and like his version of the Depeche Mode song “Personal Jesus’…oh and his version of Marc almonds ”Tainted Love“ but I digress
For most people they get up at the same time every day do the same things, get the same train, make the same car/bus/walking journey, get that bicycle, pogostick and make their way to work/school/college, day in day out. The see the same people, read the same things, do the same things, eat and drink the same things, get bored with the same stuff….day in and day out.
They sit in the same chairs, lie in the same beds, type on the same computers, have the same lusts, desires, loves hates, they move the same mouse, make the same mess, tidy up the same room, dust away the same dust (or something very similar). They talk about the same things, and argue about the same subjects.
They turn around and the world has had the bland gun fired at it, and everything falls into a fit of melancholy….woe is me, we are all doomed.
doomed I say doomed.
This is the soft life, so far from pain and death, where a hardship is that the train is late, that the mouse is broken, that a collegaue doesn’t find you attractive enough.
However tedium seems so safe and secure, it is the end result of the safety we see in routine… but this security is illusory, for we are most of us a pay packet away from penury.
and the other world calls and sends fear chilling through our veins, that we may be the ones forced to go on in to the darkness.
In another world not so very far away, small children starve, people sell their children for 500 euros, bombs and bullets are the everyday, men and women have their heads hacked off, to survive the only crop worth growing is opium poppy,..and you think its a tough life.
Wake up and smell the fairtrade coffee
