Just another commodity?
…I feel there may be something in this as much as members of the Frankfurt group on the 1930s rubbishing recorded music because only live music had the real soul. But may real argument is once you make everything a commodity, as the capitalist system does; as everything is subsumed under its aegis, when you can buy a baby on the net, as easily as you can buy drugs or music then everything will eventually be bought and sold.
So what happens there are a plethora of individual personal web sites where people create pornography from their bodies.
There are many non commercial sites where people show off naked or show themselves in sexual acts or postures… in some ways quite amateur and innocent and you can find from this all the way to graphic acts of sex, to horrendous acts of abuse.
Lets get it straight from the beginning, I do not condone anything that is not between consenting adults full-stop. That is plainly for a discussion about abuse… and there are some that argue once you allow people to graphically portray sex and sexuality where it lacks soul and spirit, you are on the path to abuse. I feel there may be something in this as much as members of the Frankfurt group on the 1930s rubbishing recorded music because only live music had the real soul. But may real argument is once you make everything a commodity, as the capitalist system does as everything is subsumed under its aegis, when you can buy a baby on the net, as easily as you can buy drugs or music then everything will eventually be bought and sold. Does Jesus and Money changers come in here somewhere.
Look what I am getting at here is that I enjoy the erotic and like anything its a matter of taste, and one persons isn’t anothers, but these things are never properly discussed, why is a particular image erotic and another not? Why is pornography of a particular kind a turn off (for me) whilst a turn on for others. How do we continue to pretend its not there?
Its a massive industry, for all you puritans, the ability to browse the internet is really down to the porn industry, why else do you think your browser displays pictures so well and so quickly…think about it.
